Terms of Use
Last updated 4 August 2026
These terms cover your use of this website and Medly's voice-first care navigation. Please read them — particularly the parts about what Medly is not, and what to do in an emergency.
What Medly is
Medly helps you find and book health care in New Zealand. You describe what you need, and Medly works out what kind of care fits and arranges an appointment with a provider.
Medly is operated by Medly Limited (NZBN 9429048551731), a New Zealand registered company at Level 2/40 Lady Elizabeth Lane, Wellington Central, Wellington 6011. By using Medly you agree to these terms.
What Medly is not
- Medly is not a doctor and does not provide medical care. It does not diagnose conditions, recommend treatment, or replace advice from a health professional.
- Medly is not an emergency service. If someone is seriously unwell or at risk, call 111. Do not use Medly to seek help in an emergency.
- Medly is not your medical record. Your clinical record is held by your practice.
Medly checks what you say for signs that you may need urgent care and will tell you to seek it. That is a safety net, not a clinical assessment, and it can miss things. If you are worried about your health, contact a health professional — call Healthline on 0800 611 116 or your doctor.
Care navigation is still in development
Medly's voice-first care navigation is not yet generally available. We are working with founding users and a small group of founding practices. Features described on this website may change, and availability depends on which providers have joined.
Bookings are with the provider, not with Medly
When Medly books an appointment, the appointment is between you and that practice or provider. They are responsible for the care they give you, for their own fees, and for their own cancellation rules. Medly is responsible for passing your request on accurately.
If you need to change or cancel an appointment, do it through Medly or contact the provider directly.
Voice recognition has limits
Medly listens to what you say and turns it into text. It can mishear, especially with background noise, an unfamiliar accent, or an unusual name or medication. Please check that what Medly repeats back to you is right before confirming a booking.
Your responsibilities
- Give accurate information — Medly can only act on what you tell it
- Use Medly for yourself, or for someone you are entitled to act for
- Do not use Medly to abuse, defraud or mislead a provider
- Keep your account details to yourself
Your privacy
How we handle your information — including voice recordings and transcripts — is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Availability
We aim to keep Medly running, but we do not guarantee it will be available without interruption. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we will give notice where we reasonably can.
Your rights under New Zealand law
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply to you as a consumer. Those rights sit above anything written here.
Beyond those rights, and to the extent the law allows: Medly is provided as it is; we are not liable for the care a provider gives you, for an appointment a provider changes or cancels, or for indirect losses such as lost income or missed opportunities.
Ending your use of Medly
You can stop using Medly and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend an account that is being used to harm others or to misuse the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and we will tell you directly about significant changes.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
